1982 Martinez Eira Velha
First bottle out of an owc, levels good and consistant, brittle black wax capsules. Some cellar dust on bottles, so a late release and labelled when bottled.

Decanted 7.30 pm. Nice colour and aroma. Clean decant with little sediment. After sampling the dregs I was inspired to pour a glass less than an hour later.

Good colour, with pink meniscus. Lovely dark chocolate nose, minimal fire and long finish. A good wine..

More anon..

Showed well at D + 3 and little evolution thereafter.

Quite dry on the palate with dark chocolate prevailing, still fairly tannic, and will benefit from a little more age.

A sound wine, but not a blockbuster; good value though.

Score 5-6
