Warre 1970, bottom neck fill, leaking slightly, and, below the capsule, very wet with the cork protruding 3mm. Poor lighting hindered a colour note, but it appeared to be translucent red, neither purple nor brown. At D+0 the nose and taste had strawberries, lots of heat, and hint of what might have been bottle stink. By D+5hr lovely: a gentle even heat throughout, that same soft strawberry, and overall a sensation of soft mature port. A little shy of weight let’s call it medium-to-light but otherwise lovely” . Hugely better than the ports at the recent Warre vertical, and this from a bottle with a protruding cork.

”  Except, of course, for the small bottle size. I should have opened a magnum.

The last glass has come all too soon (SCP-DFF did help). Still soft, sweet mature port, of middling-to-light weight, and needing no more time, neither in cellar nor decanter. The taste is best described as ‟good port”, but there is a hint of strawberry.
