2003 Taylor LBV

I first tasted this blind with a few others here in Oscar Quevedo's tasting room and all were suitably surprised and impressed when the bottle was revealed. Oscar then served it to me blind a second time on a boat on the Douro a couple of weeks ago. Again, it was impressive but I guessed it straight off purely due to the circumstances.
Today I walked into my local Tesco with some discount vouchers I had earned through their customer loyalty scheme. I walked out with seven bottles of this after taking advantage of the current £2.50 per bottle discount plus 5% discount for buying 6+ bottles, paying over £6.36 and handing over my vouchers. This is close to free port as you can get without by-passing the check-out
D+1hr
Slightly raw red fruits on the nose. Extremely dark, as you would expect from a port of this age. A lovely thick texture in the mouth with good acidity, masses of blackcurrant and a healthy dose of tannins. Some heat on the finish, wich is quite long and mouthwatering. I have been a little disappointed with the last 2001 and 2002 versions of this LBV but this is very, very good. At 91p per bottle this is quite possibly the best QPR port I have ever had!
For those without vouchers this is available from Tesco for £9.48 per bottle when you buy 6 or more bottles. £9.98 for <6 bottles. Buy some
