1988 Smith Woodhouse Quinta da Madalena

Decanted at 4pm from a half bottle. First glass at 9.30pm.
A dark red, but translucent. Nice and clear with no sediment from the decanting. What I would describe as my favourite colour for mature port!
Quite spirity on the nose, but very nice to taste and not the heat the spirit suggested. Struggling to pinpoint any specific tastes, but "pleasant" comes to mind! Perhaps a hint of pear drops?
Not a long finish to this but a very enjoyable drink that is probably best drunk sooner rather than later.
