2004 Dow LBV

Post by DRT »

Filtered. Purchased from Tesco two days ago at 50% discount: £5.49 for a 50cl bottle.

Very green on the nose. The entry has a nice soft and smooth texture. Masses of black fruits with big bold tannins in the mid palate and a very dry finish. A very good filtered LBV which, for me, is up there with the Taylor LBV 2003 in terms of quality.

However, the overall profile of this wine is very immature for something apparently designed for immediate drinking. It would be very interesting to stick a few of these away for 5 years to see what happens. At this price, why not?
