Tasted over the course of two days.
This was pretty much closed on the first night, althought it did show great dark fruit: black plums, sweet cherries and blackberries. Medium bodied, and fierce tannins. A good deal of heat of dried chili peppers on the finish. Already very enjoyable. Incredibly young and great potential.
On day 2, it's still a bit closed, but giving much more. It lost most of its heat, and now displays layers of beautiful flavours. Dark chocolate, licorice, bay leaf, ripe cherries and a spicy, black pepper finish. Maybe not as deep and complex as the Vesuvio of the same year, but of great class all the same.
This port is still available at a good price from several sources, and is one of the bargains of the vintage IMO.
