Tasted as part of a Vesuvio Vertical from 1989 to 2008 at The New Cavendish Club, London on 23rd February 2010.
*Please note that the 2008 Cask Sample was donated to this tasting by the Symington family before the final blend was complete so this may not accurately represent what the Vesuvio 2008 will be, should it be approved and declared later in 2010.

Same colour as the '91. Slightly stewed sensation on the nose and in the mouth. Incredibly bitter aftertaste. Not great; a disappointment.

Denser than all previous efforts. I got an almost meaty component on the nose (ground beef, anyone?) which was unexpected an interesting. This seemed better integrated than the 91, and while there is a clear spirit component in this one as well, the fruit and structure do a better job of containing it. Still not a 'wow' wine by any means, but solid enough for casual consumption

A very strange nose, quite different to all of the other wines in the line-up, which at first made me question whether or not this was a spoiled bottle. Thin, with chocolate as the predominent flavour and a bitter finish. I didn't like this one.

V92: black hue, 80% opaque. Nose ‟vegetable”, which I didn’t like, the same also present in the taste, which was also much smoother. The same vegetable notes have previously been seen in Taylor 1985.
