Pretty much the same colour as the '94. Noticably chewy tannins in the mouth, though not quite as much fruit as the '94. Slight coffee in the aftertaste. Lovely Port; certainly the best non-major-year Vesuvio from the 1990s.

I thought this was quite a nice effort -- but the spirit on the nose and the heat on the back-end keep this from being a classic wine in my view.

Soft fruity nose. Thick and sticky in the mouth with some red fruits peaking through the blackcurrant and a good length. I really like this wine, and the 96 vintage as a whole, and am pleased to report that I have a not insignificant stock to enjoy in the years to come
