Slightly darker than the '97. A bit more "bight" or "grip" to it, too, though at the expense of some of the '97's elegance.

I slightly preferred the 96, but I thought that the combination of the best elements from each would have made a smashing wine. This doesn't have the heat of the 96, but has lost some vibrance and flavor as a result.

I drank this wine with dinner and neglected to take a note whilst drinking it. I seem to have rectified this oversight when I returned to the tasting table by writing "V98 - very nice" in my notebook
