Served blind at this off-line at the Crusting Pipe, London, on 9th March 2010.

The ports: Wines marked "*" were purchase on the night at TCP due to a world record consumption of 1 bottle each in less than 2 hours, which included dinner

Notes left at the table.

From memory- not dissimilar to the Warre 83 this evening, the finish was just a touch less complete.

Dark red with oranges on the nose. I thought Croft? A nice weight, lots of fruit and a lovely warming finish. Delicious stuff.

The guesses:

  • RLC: brought this bottle (0 points)
  • WS1: Taylor 1985 (1 point)

Very solid wine, and likely my #2 of the night (the 1980 Taylor would be quite close). This was another very enjoyable and mature tasting port, lacking depth/complexity but still giving great pleasure. 88pts
