Decanted 15:30, the cork dryly crumbling into very small pieces. To behold 75% opaque, and dark red. It could be ten years old. At D+30mins the decanter-priming sample had a nose still closed: some black cherry, some plum. No obvious hedgerow fruits. My neighbour at the tasting (MAW) smelt mint, but not me. The taste in the mouth then starts with a big lump of mint sweets: tic-tacs? Also a hint of sharpness. Underneath this is the dark cherry/plum sweet dark fruit present in the nose.

Note to self: if there’s time and sobriety at the end of the tasting, revisit this port.

At D+4hr this G80 still feels very closed. Plums, sweetness, and very smooth. Luckily The Graham’s Vertical has large portion sizes (5cl pah!) so further samplings should be possible.
