1975 Offley

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

1975 Offley Boa Vista vintage port
From a bottle which showed signs of slight seepage and a cork that was failing slightly; fill level was good. Decanted off a surprising amount of thick and heavy set sediment. Very pale in colour, a light orange - almost the colour of old-fashioned barley sugar. Barley-sugar again on the nose, with perhaps a touch of spirit. Sweet and bland in the mouth with little flavour other than brown sugar although a couple of days in the decanter did allow some orange and lime acidity to develop alongside the sugar. Decent length of brown sugar and marmalade. An old, tired and thoroughly inoffensive port which should have been drunk 20 years ago. 79/100. Drunk 27 March 2010.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
