Bottling date not known. IVDP sello reference number CF682137. Light chestnut colour, holding right into the rim. A slight menthol tone on the nose with a fresh apple-iness and mint from the spirit. Searing acidity in the mouth but with some lovely toffee tones, biscuits and brazil nuts. Great initial aftertaste which fades quite quickly but remains at a low level for some time. 94/100. Drunk 1 July 2007.

For the purposes of the TN indexes, is ‟AJ da Silva” sufficiently close to ‟Dalva (aka Presidential, aka C da Silva)” for that to be used?

Totally different companies as AJS da Silva is what is presently known as Quinta do Noval. I assume he forgot the "S" in the title as I've never seen a "AJ..." without an "S".

A slight recommendation as someone who also uses the TN's here. Please list them under the name as it appears on the bottle. Not what the company is now known as. It makes it impossible to find the right wine if you change the name to group it into a present day company's name.

Doh! I once knew that. Then I didn’t. Thank you.

Andy,

This was one of the bottles from Roy's 50th birthday party. Do you recall if it was labelled as AJS da Silva? If it was, I will change the title of the thread, but my notes only had it as AJ da Silva.

Alex,
I finally found my notes on it. It was an "1890 AJS" which is an AJS Da Silva Colheita Port. The precursor to present day Quinta do Noval.

Are you sure? AJS might also have been Andrew James Symington?

Roy also refers to it as both AJS Da Silva and AJ Da Silva.

Any Idea who has the bottle, or was it one of the bottles you photographed?
