NN60: very imperfect. Dominated by heat: early-, medium- and late-palate.

VERY dissapointing. This is only my second National (the other being the 1978), and I must say I have NO IDEA what all the fuss is about thus far. Heat. Gingerbread, and a touch of powered sugar. Very december-y, but it is fatally off-balanced, as the heat seriously detracts from any delicousness or elegance that the wine may attempt to present. 84pts

Slightly darker than the Noval shown alongside, with a clear centre. More heat and aniseed on the nose than the Noval, but otherwise a very similar bouquet with plenty of marmalade and Seville oranges balanced by a lovely floral elegance. Light impact, medium bodied with plenty of raspberries but surprisingly light and dusty. Quick heat on the aftertaste with a big finish that fills the mouth and lasts a great time a brilliant finish. Overall, the regular Noval 1960 was better than this bottle but this bottle was not as good as the last one I tried. 88/100.

Oranges on the entry. Thinner than the regular Noval. Nice port but not what Nacional should deliver.
