2003 Taylor Fladgate LBV

Post by Mark D »

Pleasant enough aroma. Mixed fruits. Some candy. Really dark purple color.

First sip, fruity and tons of licorice. Not a fan of licorice but I tasted it through and through. Kind of overwhelming. A bit of spice on the end. I dunno, this LBV feels too dominant on the licorice. If you're a fan, go for it. I expected more. Needs more balance. Fruits seem to be blackberry, dark cherry.

Not a big seller, but I usually like Taylor brands.

I quite liked this port, I thought it was a step up in quality from the 2001 vintage.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Same. And quite a big step up from the 2001.

One of my favorite LBVs despite being filtered. Great stuff!
