NV Dirks Blend

Post by Axel P »

I had lunch with Dirk Niepoort last week and he served a Port after dinner to let me guess what it was. To make a long story short it was a blend of:

Niepoort 42 1 Liter bottle
Graham 55
Taylor 63
Warre 66
Fonseca 70
and some 77 and 85, that I cannot remember.

This were leftovers from a tasting he attended at the beginning of the week and he prepared himself a small (very small) private reserve out of this. Since he started the tasting with: I will call you whatever you want if you tell me what this is, I guess I was slightly off with my NIepoort 66 that I never had.

Overall this port tasted like a good 63-66 to me, powerful, but matured.

Indexing nightmare: for simplicity, ‟Unknown”.
