VA.
Nail polish remover, rubbing alcohol, etc. Showed some signs of life regardless, but this wine was clearly flawed.

Re: 1982 Churchill
This wine does have a slightly odd note (and Wolfgang and I have both opened bottles of this recently, with similar outcomes).
However, It doesn't detract much from the wine, which is otherwise dark, full and well structured.
Quite a nice quaff.

Re: 1982 Churchill
I liked the Chruchill 1982 since it is by far the fullest and fattest wine of the lot (1982 vintage ports). Very dark and structured and quite nice fruit flavours; a Port that tasted blind would not be put into the 1982 vintage. On the negative side this bt had VA. The bt opened by me the day before had less VA, but was also not decanted, just popped and poured. If you ever see this Port expect the wax to be very brittle and the overall appearance of the bt to be bad. Still a very good effort from J. Graham with the first release of Chirchills vintage Port. In my eyes much better than 1983!

Re: 1982 Churchill
First bottle had volitile acidity problems; a small sample provided by Wolfgang was fine.
Quite sweet, with some tannins still present. The smaller bottle was particularly attractive with lots of red fruit.

Re: 1982 Churchill
VA showing on the nose, spoiling the bouquet. Some VA flavours on the palate, but not dominating and adding some complexity to a full bodied flavour. Lots of fruit in the mix and some soft tannins. Lovely aftertaste and finish, long and fully flavoured. Has the soft tannins to last another 5-10 years. Could have been an extremely impressive wine. NR.
