Medium colour, lighter than normal. Unctuous in the mouth, lots of fruit, lovely and a genuinely nice Port. Despite all of this, probably the worst 1970 Fonseca I've had, which just shows how bloody wonderful the rest were.

Very youthful in color, perfect structure. Nose and palate showed off very komplex coffee, floral notes and tons of chocolate. Very long and pleasant aftertaste. Potential to improve with even more time than this 40 years in the bottle. 19

Fourth flight. Oldest port of the tasting and served on its own, because we felt it deserved that.

Light, aged colour, but with plenty of life and still a red hue. The nose is beautiful and powerful, with some red fruit, leather, spice, tobacco and good freshness. The structure and power stand out most on the palate, they are impressive. The fruit that's there is mostly light, but elegant. Still some dark tannins shining through on the finish. Seems like previous bottles showed a bit younger and better, but still a very fine port. That shows just how great Fonseca 1970 usually is. 93 points.
