1977 Grahams

Date: April 2010

Colour: Light red, almost tawny pink.

Cork was saturated with some concentrated, syrupy residue on top. When I tried to use a corkscrew on it it just sank into the bottle. The smell on decanting was of candy floss; very sweet.

Decanted for 6 hours and drunk alongside cheese over the course of 2 hours in the company of friends. Colour had only darkened slightly in the decanter.

Everyone agreed it was the best bottle of port we'd had in our (very limited) experience. Full of sweet fruity flavours such as raspberry and cherry with some vanilla, cut through with a balanced spirity finish. Not much in the way of tannins that I could notice.

I've got another 2 bottles & am very much looking forward to seeing how they compare.

Rich.
