Unfiltered LBV from a half bottle, not decanted but the bottle was opened 4 days before this tasting note and stored in the fridge to protect it against the effects of 30C temperatures.

Tasted while still chilled. Good, solid colour but with no purple of youth. Victoria plums and dates on the nose, plus a lovely lavender perfume. Dense flavours, surprisingly tannic impact (although the tannins are soft and do not dominate). Plenty of sweet, dark cherry fruit and a gentle dose of acidity. Good flavours and balance. Slight burn on swallowing, but then a long and dry nutty finish takes over and lingers for a long while as it teases the edges of the tongue. A very pleasant cellar defender or emergency port. 86/100. Drunk 5 August 2010.

I'm slightly devastated that I only have 48 of these left

I'm waiting for Tesco to run their next Christmas sale of a 50% discount. At £3.50, these were an absolute not-to-be-missed bargain! Then I'll restock too, although I've probably got about as many as you.
