I95, taken from cellar and immediately decanted at 17:50. Ten minutes later, i.e., now, dark red and 90% opaque. Looking young and rich. Nosing of a bowl of mushed berries, red and sweet. A smell full of youthful promise. The palate showing the cellar chill, but also that big pile of red-fruited berry sweetness. Me like. The cold dampens the heat of the alcohol, but its sting is present on the roof of the mouth. Big sweet port, of good length, which good be excellent in about a decade.

I95, at ≈D+4hr: better at pop-’n’-pour. It had acquired a lot of acidity on the palate too much. The fruit mush was there, though my brother, the one present at the Deeper Underground, also found liquorice. The port was lighter, shorter, hollower, and more acidic, than at D+0hr. There must be a moral in that somewhere.

Bring a bottle to Barlborough and we shall drink it in its prime: D+0hr-D+0.25hr. There is no point in allowing another bottle to spoil through an excesive decanting time.

There’s a slight problem with that plan.

Sorry.

Only 1 bottle? OK, no problem. Replace with a T55 and we will cope. :D
