Surprisingly good colour, but lighter than the immediately adjacent years. Slightly funky nose, showing stewed fruit and a hint of mint. Sweet in the mouth, fruit generally gone but replaced by a pleasant honey and lemon acidity. Surprisingly there is still a bit of tannin. Later in the palate some soft floral tones. Sweet and cloying honey aftertaste; with a soft finish with tannins showing clearly but dominated by sticky honey. Surprising and enjoyable. No discernable sign of the industrial alcohol that was used for the fortification. 86/100. Drunk 7 September 2010.
