Fr55: red hinting at brown, the hint being definite at the edge. Very sweet. Unctuous and thick. Later still lovely. With the fully-mature tannin-light structure so typical of this house. Very much of the same family as its vintages from the 1970s. RAYC, correctly, ‟no fireworks but quite pleasant”.

In the first flight competition (Ad, BPFHB, C, D, Fr, F, GB, and G) scoring 10 points, being ranked first by RLC, second by JDAW and RAH, and third by three others, for the Bronze Medal of this flight.

Spicy nose. Oranges on the palate - delicate and elegant wine that is very good for drinking now. I had this at number 4 in the first flight and therefore 4th or 5th overall.

Mid red colour, a dark orange, 30% opaque. Slightly herbaceous on the nose, attractive although muted. Spicy, ginger biscuits and redcurrants on the palate. Delightfully elegant with a wonderful florality. Long aftertaste, light but tasty. Really rather a nice and elegant wine. 90/100.

Started out a bit monotone in this sugar/spice love tangle, but as the night went on it gained meaningful complexity. As with most of the wines of this evening, the general lack of fruit is a major factor to my palate, but this was showing rather well I thought. 88 points

Color: Middling dark, pleasant to look at.
Nose: Dry mustard.
Palate: Relatively lively and young, but a bit hot and harsh.
Finish: Warm, a flash of green

Score: 88 points. Others ranked this one higher, but I couldn't help but draw unfavorable comparisons between it and a '60 Ferreira that I liked a lot. Concensus ranked it 3rd of the first flight behind the Fonseca and the Graham.
