Mz55: 50% opaque; on the red side of red-orange. Nosing of dark chocolate. In the palate very long, with, again dark chocolate.

In the second flight competition (Mk, Mz, Ni, N, O, S, T, and W) scoring 1 point, being JDAW’s third place.

My brief note says: "Flat nose - quite light - some biterness".

I wasn't particularly keen on this wine during the tasting but do recall it to be a perfectly respectable glass of port during the sweeping-up session.

Burnt sienna in colour; 40% opaque. Fruity nose, a little hot, not spectacular but with lots of sweet and sticky blood orange. Pleasant texture, mid-weight. Some bitterness early on but develops nicely on the palate with soft tannins showing through and plenty of glycerine giving depth. Lots of structure. A big aftertaste and a huge finish of sweet St Clement’s Pudding and custard. 89/100.

Consistent in profile and composition with most of the wines of this evening. Medium ruby color, spirity, with almost a cactus juice mouthfeel before sweetening up somewhat towards the transition from midpalate to finish. This is perfectly drinkable, but not really blowing much wind up my dress. 83 pts.

Color: Medium red.
Nose: Some candle wax.
Palate: Starts pleasant, but then fades fast and ends harsh.
Finish: Not great, but good length.

Score: 85 points. The Martinez was my lowest ranked Port of the night. Which, since I gave it 85 points, meant we had a very good night!
