T55: 30% opacity; red-pink. Red fruit, reminding me but not my neighbours of the strawberries sometimes found in 30YO Warre. DRT thought ‟cherries”. Good port.
In the second flight competition (
Mk,
Mz,
Ni,
N,
O,
S, T, and
W) scoring 31 points, being ranked first by eight, second by three including me, and third by BMHR, and not at all by AHB, for the
Gold Medal of this flight. In the WOTN of the evening vote nearly-unanimously surpassed by the
Graham.

Not much on the nose. Lots of mint with red cherries on the palate and very warming (but not "hot") throughout.
This had a very good structure, fabulous colour and weight but seemed to be a bit closed. Perhaps more decanting time would have helped it show better?

Good red colour, 60% opaque. Deepest of the wines other than the odd Mackenzie. A lovely, perfumed nose, with lots of floral tones. Nice mouthfilling texture; there is some pepper in the mix but the flavours are dominated by mature and leathery fruit. The aftertaste is of warm redcurrant lozenges, with a dry finish that is full of orange peel. 89/100. I suspect this was under-decanted.

I liked this quite a bit. Complete and resolved, but just lacking a bit of distinctiveness and umph that is necessary for an exceptional score. 89 points.

Color: Best of the night - very pretty, even brilliant. It practically bursts out of the glass.
Nose: Somewhat musty or dusty, some faint alcohol.
Palate: Decent tannins. Some faint cherry or strawberry.
Finish: Nice warmth. Decent fruit carryover from the palate.
Score: 90+ points. My #1 of the flight and #2 of the night. Also concensus #1 of the flight and #2 on the night.
