1963 Dalva Golden White Colheita (bottled 2009)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Tasted at C. da Silva's new tasting house in Vila Nova de Gaia. Bottled October 2009. Pale gold, with a glowing centre, 10% opaque. Petrol on the nose and ripe, pink melons. Lovely texture, gorgeous balance, full of flavours of lychees and tinned peaches with a fantastic syrup texture. Gorgeous aromatics and released with air. The afteraste is slow to develop, but leads to a sweet finish of peaches and caramel. A lovely wine, with a good density of flavours; very enjoyable. 90/100. Drunk 28 September 2010.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
