NV Dalva White 20YO (Dry White) (bottled 2010)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Tasted at C. da Silva's new tasting house in Vila Nova de Gaia. Bottled 2010 - 2 weeks before being opened! Rich and deep orange colour, 10% opaque, but a hint of green on the rim. A lovely petrol nose, full of tropical fruit and melons. Medium mouthfeel, quite thick texture. Lots of lychees and bay leaves that bring a gentle bite. This is a fairly straightforward wine that has a bit more depth than the 10 year old. There is a long aftertaste of tinned peaches and toasted wood. Overall, I preferred the 10 year old white. 87/100. Drunk 28 September 2010.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
