1963 Offley

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

1963 Offley Boa Vista vintage port

Chilled, slightly cloudy; pale red with distinct bricking. Stewed nose, with fresh mint clearly showing. Sweet brown sugar impact; hot mid-palate and a sweet late palate full of stewed plums. Big levels of acidity. Very hot aftertaste. Gentle finish of dry espresso, very long and with stewed plums showing late. 85/100. Drunk 25 September 2010.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

O63: at D+4hr it was a little warm, so was put in the freezer, and was then too cold. C’est la vie. 40% opaque; brick red. Very hot. A hint of cherry and strawberry, but the dominant sensation is heat. AHB: ‟stewed”.
