Almost as dark in colour as the Gould Campbell 1970 drunk alongside. 60% opaque. Hot on the nose, some VA giving a slightly varnishy tone. Sweet and thick entry; but with a harshness that unbalances and dominates. Eventually the harshness fades and allows the mature fruit to the fore, showing as lots of red jelly beans. Harsh and acidic on the aftertaste, drying out the cheeks but finishing with a long fruit candy. 84/100. Drunk 27 September 2010.

T70: darkest at table, deep red, 60% opacity. To taste heat early palate. Then, mid palate, bitterness and sugar. Finally long sweetness marked with lavender. Mid- to light-weight.
