Much denser and darker on the nose than the Warre. Notably less grapey, too. More "classic" in the mouth for a young vintage Port, with lots of tannins. Tasting non-blind, this is very stereotypically "Dow": very dry and austere. Disappointingly short aftertaste: this dries up quickly.

Is this the most fabulous Vintage Port ever produced? I don't think so. Is it the best of the Vintage or the Symington's offering? Again I don't think so. But a nice Port that has a great future ahead of it.

Very dark, an impenetratable maroon. Subdued on the nose, not showing much other than some faint violets and blackcurrants. Restrained on the palate, dry and austere with lots of tannin and ripe fruit acidity; not much sweet fruit. Patience and air allows the sweet fruit to show through. A wonderful aftertaste of sweet blueberry and black chocolate and a finish of moderate length. 92/100.
