Seeing the previous poor notes but undaunted as I did some see of our fellow port lovers enjoy this wine, I went and picked up two cases.
From OWC that I popped open to see test the batch since I was out of port.
Popped and poured and decanted through our typical filters.
Thick but fine sludge that covered an inch at the bottom of the funnel.
Surprised by the shortness of the cork though.
Dark black color with no signs of redness nor browness at all.
Very spicy black pepper nose backed with some lavender and dried raisins.
Very primal port with loads of candied prunes, glycerol, blackberries and black pepper. Medium bodied, but the spiciness makes it appear fuller than it is.
A somewhat short finish of heat/alcohol.
This is a good port so far and certainly none of the VA I see from our previous notes.
Will hold the sample for 24 hours.
91.

Just pure raisins on the nose.
Condensed milk and chocolates with prunes and dates flesh out a medium bodied wine.
Finishes with a black pepper cocoa powder that lingers chocolate bitter for 30 seconds.
Pretty interesting as the wine changes from med bodied to med/full bodied to med/light.
Still sticking with 91.
