2008 Niepoort Bioma Vinha Velha
Tasted at The Big Fortified Tasting, a trade fair in London at Glaziers Hall on Wed 06 April 2011 (Review thread, containing links to other tasting notes). This being a large trade-fair event, tasting notes generally brief.

NPi08. Bioma might be the new name for Niepoort Pisca. If it is to be checked then the abbreviation might need a rethink. Purple, 95% opaque. Very approachable. Mint? Lavender. Lovely.

Cask sample. Bottling now. Deep red, magenta. Open nose, full of flowers and violets. Restrained fruit on entry, big tannins dry the mouth before the violets and fruit come to the fore. Big on the palate and grows bigger with patience. Really impressive! Big chocolate and raisin aftertaste; long, big finish. Delicious finish. 89/100
