NV Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo Ruby Special Reserve

Post by JacobH »

Tasted at The Big Fortified Tasting, a trade fair in London at Glaziers Hall on Wed 06 April 2011 (Review thread, containing links to other tasting notes). This being a large trade-fair event, tasting notes generally brief.

Quinta Nova Ruby
Special Reserve. Soft fruit on the nose. Similar in mouth but a bit spirity. Fine but unexciting.

Cask sample. Youthful appearance, rather smelly nose of sour cherry - not very attractive. On the palate this is light and a little thing and acidic. There is fruit and soft tannin, but the balance is not there. A big aftertaste and a long finish, but not a wine to my taste. Not rated.
