1963 Dow

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

The mid red colour of early maturity; 50% opaque. Over-ripe blood oranges on the nose, lots of sweet redcurrant. Sharp acidity at the fore of the palate, restrained fruit and soft tannins - dry profile. Lots of tobacco and leather, concentrated. Good elegance on the aftertaste and a big, red jelly bean finish of terrific length. Lovely port. 93/100. Drunk 2 April 2011 after 3 hours decant.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
