1945 Croft

Deep rich orange, little red, burnt sienna rim; 50% opaque. Initial nose of bottle stink (2 hours) has now gone to reveal a menthol infused smell of grass after a rain shower, showing lots of floral perfumes. Big presence on the palate, deep mandarin and orange zest; hugely arresting on the palate. A touch of heat on the aftertaste and then a massive finish of intensely sweet concentrated orange marmalade. Deeply impressive. 95/100. Drunk 2 April 2011 after 6 hours decant.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
