Consumed at the Crusting Pipe on 16 May 2011.

Organisation thread.
Review thread.
Croft 1970 (JDAW)
Smith Woodhouse Madalena 1988 (DRT)
Quevedo 20 Year Tawny (OJMQ)
Fonseca 1985 (CMAG)
Croft 1963 (RAYC)
Cockburn 1970 (THRA)
Gould Campbell 1977 (RAYC)
Taylor 1980 (Team)

Contributed by CMAG: Very dark. Lots of black fruit with violets on the nose, bags of tannin and some heat in the finish. With unfair advantage, having shared a bottle with CMAG two weeks ago, I correctly guessed Fonseca 1985.

F85. Red-purple, 80% opaque. Very sweet, lots of plum fruit, heat mid-palate.

I mis-guessed Graham ’91. Others thought Warre ’97 or Dow ’94.

Interesting. Very approachable and drinkable. Yet we all (except DRT) guessed too young. Though still excellent, has it become lighter without really maturing?
