Same colour as the Niepoort 1987. Hot and slightly musty on the nose, with some distant fruit. In the mouth, a little orangy liquor is immediately present, followed by quite a long aftertaste with a touch of astringency. Very elegant.

Medium dark in colour, with very little smell. On tasting, huge full flavour, very long with deep woody tones and very smooth. My port of the night, very similar in many ways to my current/previous staple, W77. Additional note, didn't show quite so well with remaining sample on following evening, the Ch85 eclipsing it then.

Deep red, colour holding into the rim - 80% opaque. Subdued on the nose, quite dominated by farmyard smells and a little VA. Sweet but flavourless entry, which reveals stewed plums. Quite big-bodied and full-flavoured although with quite a rustic / compost tone in the mouth. Big and burly aftertaste; long and sweet finish. Guessed to be W83, OBV85 and Ca85 (by me, based on a clue). 88/100.
