1986 Taylor Terra Feita

Post by jdaw1 »

TTF86: opened to accompany a DB98 which was opened for the Paris Annexe to the Vintage Port from the Nineteen Nineties. Small placemats.

Decanted 13:00. At d+2hr bright red hue, pink at the rim, 70% opaque. Maraschino cherries, bright and sweet flavour, lots of heat mid- to end-palate. Lighter than the DB98, but very pleasant already, and it will make excellent drinking this evening.

TTF86, at D+7 hours.

JDAW: dark red, 80%ish opaque. Nose has a hint of mint. Heat now earlier in the palate, on the tip of the tongue. The fruit has lost all the cherry, and become dry plum. Lots of sweetness mid- to late-palate. Eminently drinkable.

CFD (who I have just learnt is left-handed): nose of straw. ‟Sweeter than ports usually are.” Heat under the tongue, rather than at the tip.
