Deep red colour, 95% opaque. Youthful nose, closed but revealing a little fresh and sour blackcurrant. Floral, with lots of violets on the palate but wrapped in a very odd soapy tone. Harshly acidic on the tongue and aeration just brings out more soapiness. Hollow on the aftertaste, followed by a bubble-gum finish that slowly changes to a floral / sweet violet flavour. Sweet and sticky. Guessed to be Vargellas '96. 84/100 - others at the offline were more impressed with this than was I.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
