Deep red and opaque. Full on the nose, bringing fresh blackcurrants. Hollow entry, closed and unbalanced but showing late on the palate some attractive development with plenty of tannin and lots of spice and acidity. Harsh aftertaste, dry and acidic finish. Has considerable upside (to 89?) once it comes back into balance. Guessed to be Vargellas 1998. 83/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
