1985 Martinez vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Modest red, losing some intensity and picking up a little bricking on the rim; 90% opaque. Candied cherry on the nose, with a soft cinammon overtone. Medium bodied entry, sweetness comes through with a softly cinammon spiced cherry. Soft tannins, perhaps lacking a little acidity and giving rise to a little flabbiness. Pleasant candied cherry aftertaste, with a short- medium-length finish. Good port for a cricket final - not too distracting but very enjoyable. 87/100. Drunk 17 September 2011.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
