2009 Quevedo Sample Sousao

Post by JacobH »

Tasted at Single Varietal Vintage Port & a Gould Campbell 1985. Links to other tasting notes: Reasonable colour with a good mixture of fruit and tannins on the palate. Although I was suffering from palate fatigue (this was the 37th wine I tried that evening...) it was clear that this was a nice and round Port and, like the Tinta Roriz could easily be used as a ‟base” wine to which others could be added to flesh out the bouquet.

Sousão has a reputation for being more acidic than other Port grapes, which I noticed (before being told of its reputation) when I opened my sample pack. Did you notice it as well?
