1983 Offley

1983 Offley Boa Vista vintage port
Deep red, modest colouring on the rim; opaque. Milk chocolate and bitter cranberry combine on the nose - more youthful than perhaps might be expected of a 28 year old port. Silky texture with dry fruit and a nice balance - perhaps a little bit on the light side. The tannins are soft and well placed. Gentle aftertaste with a lingering and soft finish. This is drinking well now. 87/100. Drunk 29 Sep 2011.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Yes, good stuff. No formal note but i did enjoy this, quite youthful still i felt (not just due to colour) and i think it will improve too with more time in the cellar. Sweet (even for a port!), which is to my liking. A very solid ***
