On Tuesday 11th October 2011, at the RAF Club, was held a ‘square’ tasting of {Dow, Fonseca, Graham, Taylor} × {1963, 1966, 1970, 1977}. Our honoured guest was Cynthia Jenson, official blogger to the Symingtons.

Links:Before being unblinded G66 was ‟g66”.

g66, lated identified as G66: mid-red, mid opacity. Nose had lots of red fruit. Taste also full of red fruit, with a soft entry. Big. Slightly off mid-palate, but only slightly.

From an oporto bottling, great fill level, and gave off such a glorious smell on decanting that it was obvious this was in tip top condition.

Hit the spot for me, absolutely glorious. Great combination of fantastic fruit and mature characteristics. But noticeably paler in colour than both the F66 and the G70 - is this at its peak now? *****

Mature red, lighter rim, 40% opaque. Cranberry nose, mature and attractive. Very smooth entry, thick and sweet. Lovely Christmas cake complexity. This is a big wine with terrific development. Intense aftertaste and a lovely sweet finish. Served blind and guessed to be Graham. 93/100.
