On Tuesday 11th October 2011, at the RAF Club, was held a ‘square’ tasting of {Dow, Fonseca, Graham, Taylor} × {1963, 1966, 1970, 1977}. Our honoured guest was Cynthia Jenson, official blogger to the Symingtons.

h66, lated identified as D66: red, 40% opaque. Lovely. Unctuous, which for me refers to that slightly oily sensation given by fresh mango or lychee, and is my favourite port texture. But only of mid-weight.

This showed particularly well last November at the Symington's Decanter Tasting, and had been my dark horse pick for WOTN prior to the tasting.

Didn't quite make it, though it was in my top 5 and my favourite Dow. JDAW describes texture well. I could drink this all night. I suspect it would have been an obvious WOTN at a "normal" tasting (unless it was one of those "normal" tastings where AHB had brought a G45 or T48 along...) *****

Another very good port, light to medium colour, very fruity to taste with a gentle sweetness and slight hint of acidity, very well balanced; good.

Modest red colour, copper in tone, pale on the rim. Harsh nose, not attractive. Sweet fruit on the palate with a modest flavour profile; quite dry, but attractive and still with some tannins showing in the mid palate. Big aftertaste, and a lovely big finish. Served blind and guessed to be the Dow. 89/100.
