NV Vasconcellos Tawny 40YO

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Pale brown colour, slightly greening on the rim. Lovely colheita nose, with toffee apple everywhere. Sweet and supple entry, with lovely muscvado sugar, dates and walnuts - and absolutely no tannins. Big orange zest aftertaste and then a huge tingling (and delicious) finish. This is a very tasty barrel aged port. Drunk 13 October 2011. 89/100. Served blind, this was guessed to be the Noval 40 yo tawny.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
