50% opaque with a dark brown centre and orange rim. Nosing of butterscotch and walnuts - deep and rich. Thick in texture and even showing some tannins immediately on entry. Rich dates and raisins on the palate. This wine has a huge palate presence, absolutely mouthfilling with oranges apeparing at the end of the palate. Confident acidity gives structure but does not distract in any way. Great palate balance. There is a massive finish, a huge length with concentrated bitter-sweet Seville orange that never seems to end. A stunning port, still one of the absolute best for current drinking. 99/100. Drunk 15 October 2011.
