1985 Graham vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red in colour, with a firm rim - showing less maturity on the rim than the 1994 shown alongside! Opaque. Developed and open on the nose, with dusty violets and ripe loganberries. The mature sweetness of fruit dominates the palate, covering over the firm tannins. There is a nice balance. Huge fruit flavours fill the mouth and yet retain the balance and elegance. A touch of caramel shows at the start of the aftertaste, before giving way to a milk chocolate finish with tannin drying the cheeks. 92/100. Drunk 14 October 2011.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
