On Tuesday 8th November 2011, in The Steak Exchange EC2A 2EH, friends gathered to note the return to London of jdaw1, and the recent birth of his second daughter. The theme was ‟Port With Star Quality”, with appropriately themed placemats.

C94, from JGH: dark dark red, 90% opaque. AHB recorded 100%. Very young port, full of prune fruit that always reminds me of Vesuvio. Not correctly, but it did. Same full-sweet prunes in the palate.

Cloudy appearance, deep red in colour and opaque. Terrifically sharp on the nose, very unpleasant. (DRT said "ammonia", and was right.) Foul entry, sour raspberries but this does change with a little patience and air to the palate to deliver cranberry and redcurrant. Fruity aftertaste and a sticky sweet finish. Not rated on the basis that this surely can't be right. NR.
