1994 Quinta do Noval vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Served blind. Ex-cellars. Deep red and with a solid rim, opaque centre. Quite youthful in appearance. Faint blackcurrants on the nose that grow stronger with a bit of warmth; lovely violets. Sweet fruit on the restarined entry. Subtle structure, but fabulus balance; the tannins are soft, the acidity is modest. The aftertaste is dominated by sweet violets but with a mouthwatering acidity. Great length. 93/100. Drunk 13 October 2011 with 6 hours decant.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
